Mission Statement
The Athens Area Homeless Shelter provides collaborative, comprehensive services to homeless individuals and fosters public awareness of homelessness in the community.
Philosophy
The Athens Area Homeless Shelter is a united and compassionate response to homelessness in the Northeast Georgia region. Our purpose is to educate the community that homelessness is the result of complex social, economic and personal factors. We advocate for the homeless population and pledge to work cooperatively with the community to eliminate homelessness.
Our Services
The services at the Athens Area Homeless Shelter include both short and long term shelter for families with children experiencing homelessness through the Almost Home Program, employment and education related supportive services for homeless individuals and families through the Job TREC Program, and assistance with child care for homeless families through the Nancy Travis House Child Care Voucher Program.
